Looking for something a little different, maybe for your Valentine, or maybe NOT! This flask, bound is chains, is made from boiled leather treated with beeswax. On the front is a hand beaten, polished brass panel bearing the motto PASSION, but on the turned boxwood stopper is another panel (still with original verdigris) with the word POISON. Which would you choose? Or maybe they are both the same! This flask is truly a one-of-a-kind…. available on my Etsy page

Are you looking for a unique gift for a lover this Valentine’s Day?

These books are each bound with red linen thread and tie shut with a hand woven red silk and real silver braid. Simply loop the braid over the button and pull the beaded cord down to secure. Each book contains 3 folios, with a total of 96 A7 writing sides of cartridge paper. Plenty of space to sketch hearts or write sweet nothings! The covers are made from vegetable tanned cow hide of good thickness which will look even more beautiful with age. Each book has a unique design on the front and has been surface treated for protection. They are for sale at £25 each, either direct from here or shortly on my Etsy page…

Lead plummets

These are the latest versions of the lead plummets I have made. They are approximately 5cm in length and drilled at one end for attaching a cord (you wouldn’t want to lose something so valuable!).

The original plummet design these were taken from had the name ROGER on them. I have placed SCRIBO (to write) on one and MODUS I (I rule) on the other. They are approximately 5mm thick at the hole,tapering to a flattened tip at the other. £10 each

Please note: being lead, careful handling is advised.

Fishing set

This is perhaps the most basic of fishing sets, but is fully functional!

Supplied with both a handmade spade-type hook (for authenticity) and a modern eyed hook (for convenience).

Leather wallets

These simple wallets are made from quite thick leather which is simple fastened by pulling the ribbon or leather cord around the button. They measure approximately 6 inches by 4 inches and are hand stitched with linen thread.

A silk ribbon is also available for a little extra…

Leather bound books

Since I already make quite a few items of writing equipment, I thought it was time I gave you somewhere to use it!

These are the first of several limited batches of 3 books I shall be putting out for sale, either at the next market or before on the Etsy site. They are bound in quite firm leather, which has been stamped with a version of a Tudor prayer book cover. Some of the details on the original were missing which I have tried to fill in with details from similar covers. Where there was no further information I have left the space blank, or only vaguely indicted the design. They are closed by looping the hand woven silk braid over the bone button, and then pulling down on the beaded end. Each book contains 3 folios of cartridge paper with 16 pages in each, giving a total of 96 writing (or sketching!) sides altogether. The pages are bound in with heavy linen thread and the leather has been treated to bring out the stamp detail more. These books (which measure approximately 6 inches by 4 inches) are extremely tactile, and would be a joy to use (I know, I kept the practice one for myself!).

They are competitively priced at £35 each.

New batch of lucets

A new batch of wooden lucets is now ready for sale at the next market (if not before!). These are boxwood and walnut, with a single bone tiddler at the front. There’ll be more bone ones to follow in the New Year.
