IHS Pouch

This is the second of the replica pouches made for the Mary Rose. It only has the one embroidered panel so only took around 20 hours to make (as opposed to over 45 hours for the previous one…)

The front of the pouch showing the IHS and foliate pattern. The rather odd long/short stitches on the triangles are similar to the originals, but I had to use a simple outline stitch around the letters. The friable nature of the DMC thread did not allowing me to use chain stitch as in the original.

The interior of the pouch showing the engraved lines and stitching to hold the lining in place.

The interior showing the silk drawstring pouchlets, which are set behind the frame panel.

The rear of the pouch showing the three belt loops, the outer of which are set at an angle. You can also see the finer leather that was used for the piping.
